What's troubling you?

Posted on Jun 24th, 2009 by Zephyr : Poeticspirit Zephyr
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 24, 2009:

I cannot bury my head in the sand, In my immediate personal life nothing comes to mind as troubling, but I am not an Island, I love my brothers and sisters, and there is much in the world that troubles me, violence, and genocide, freedoms curtailed, poverty,

‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’

So for what it's worth I am battling peacefully to try and get these things changed on many fronts

I am troubled because there are children in the world who are prostituted, lacking education, starving, press-ganged into war, used for begging. - I shop with my principles, donate what  I can, invest ethically with companies that don't invest in arms

I am troubled because our government has let us down,mp's greedily feeding at our communal trough: mp's allowing unsafe practise in the money markets, and debt to rise alarmingly,mp's spreading fear of terrorism while curtailing our freedoms in ever tighter control.( see my post in the lounge, I am not relinquishing freedom without a strong  protest ) ) mp's pursuing health and social policies that fail to protect the health of the population including children. ( I am working on this one, on several fronts) mp's dragging their heels on global warming, not achieving targets, putting our very existence at risk, giving our children a hellish climate to live with and huge costs fot the future ( decommissioning nuclear waste is costly  and hazardous, they will pay. The children are paying now with their lives, two children died of leukaemia in our village recently we have two nuclear power stations in the vicinity, doubling their proven 50% increased risk,( see the latest german research ) one nuclear facility here and one a short hop accross the channel.

I know the problems make us feel like burying our heads in the sand - but for the sake of our children, join me, do battle peacefully for a better future. We are all one, brothers and sisters, related, what affects one, affects All.

It's taking a lotta faith, but from my perspective which is global, more 'good men' are 'getting it'… indeed I should highlight, more good women are stepping out and not just getting angry at the failures but taking action.

To cope I project my thinking to one year hence, in recognising some leaps have been made in the last year that were pretty monumental although I agree, there's still a way to go.

I don't tolerate the rhetoric AT ALL now! Talk is dirt dirt cheap. Show me your walk, adults. Show me your walk.

It is going to be pressure from the poly to get the politics and [non-serving] patrons to do some work. So speaking out is a big step in the process. Bit by bit we'll see changes that can help us to feel a little less troubled.

Thank you, sister.

Blessings to you. Sherri

Hi Sherri, yes bit by bit, some change achieved already, I'm not getting angry, just putting research based evidence forward and constructive suggestions for change, and cutting waste. I actually got a phone call from someone at the Royal Commission this week saying it was very useful and thanking me.

Gael, this is great! I didn't mean to imply that you were getting angry; in fact the wording of the question is what led me there.

Indeed on my end and others I'm on duty with, making it clear that no further evidence is needed, just political will, is shutting the stupid resistance down [sorry to be a bit harsh]. All that posturing etc., I'm not even open to hear. Other people are doing things without a budget, without an army, and they're running households, teaching school fulltime etc. What's the limitation on you??

It is changing the tone of conversations once and for all and I am just joyful! [I think Obama helped lol]

Like you I have been getting a share of appreciation for my efforts and feeling a sense of sanity taking its place.

Deep breathing and we will make it all the way!

Thanks again. Sherri

The lunatics have always run the asylum in the absence of grassroots solidarity, I think, and I look forward to the time when catastrophe galvanises the populus to mass action since most politicians are too far down the spiral to see the light at the top of the helter skelter.

I do my bit as well and I do feel joined with you in the spirit of compassionate rebellion and I do get angry at the level of denial and ignorance I encounter and I know full well that this rage conceals a deeper grief in the presence of this radiant weeping of the raped ecosystem.

John,oh yes,  I feel sadness rather than anger and I wonder apart from example how we can wake up the others? Or as you say wil it take catastrophe, and then will it be too late? The trouble is the changes are affecting the poorest first, maybe it will take a catastrophe to affect the waelthy before we get change.
BTW, Reading your words I wonder, have you ever considered writing poetry? Your skill with words and metaphor would be a real asset. Hug,s my friend.

It is so nice to hear other women talk of the emotion of all this. I have been gutted this week with concern for the world. We have a lot of walk to walk.
I lot of songs to sing. I hope everyone joins in.

I am taking a trip to the mountains with a girlfriend this week, to renergize.
Hang out with mother earth in her belly for awhile.

Good for you all for keeping the anger at bay. I lost it this week, with tears and emotion. I suppose we are all being purged of negativity as the shift continues. I feel like a shammy being pulled out the other side of the rollers.
But I will keep drying those windshields…one by one, I guess. Hugs, J
