What does personal freedom mean to you?

Posted on Nov 5th, 2009 by Zephyr : Poeticspirit Zephyr
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 05, 2009:

Freedom can so easily slip into self -indulgence, it is so easy to become a slave to success, or material things, or to our needs -  but to me personally it means far more, maybe it's choosing peace, perhaps it's making choices with love as a guide, with true freedom we are mindful not just of other people, but other cultures, other species, and the planet.

It's a good choice for you, Gael.  Always thinking of the highest good.

Being able to choose peace is a great personal freedom.  We need more people like you to extend and expand awareness and appreciation of others sharing this planet.

Hi Mimi, yes, peace is a freedom we all want, we need to consciously choose it
because it can only be found in our own heart, it's not something we can enforce.

It gets clearer and clearer.  Recently I heard something on the news about a study of people who prayed, why and did it work?  Of all things that people have prayed for and received, the most prayed for was…… Open the curtain, please……Peace of mind.   Not money, not property, not love, not health but peace of mind.  After a hard 15 second think about this, a light bulb went off and I realized that if you possessed this one thing, everything else would fall into it's proper perspective and you would sleep soundly at night.

Laughing here Sandi, I usually sleep like a log, but last night Mum was fidgety and didn't settle till 12.30, then woke me at 2, again at 4, and at 6.15 am was calling out for breakfast….I'm hungry!!! She has not been sleeping well for a while, but today the doctor took her off the tablet that she thought was causing her sleeplessness, so hopefully we will be back to normal again soon. You are right, internal peace has ripples, as does the opposite!”

Maybe it'll be a better night tonight Gael.  Just don't let her sleep as much in the daytime. LOL. I went through it with my Mom and Dad, knowing that while I was at work they were snoozing away.  I'm the one who got cross and cranky and they couldn't figure out why!  I cared for both of my parents when their health failed and I know what a job it can be.  They did it for me when I couldn't help myself, it was an honor to be able to help them.  It was also as hard as anything I've ever done.  God bless you and your Mom.

I feel the same Sandi, my parents nursed me through it when the doctor said there was no more he could do, I was a sickly child for many years. I have been looking after Mum full time for five years now and part time five years before that, and will do as long as my health holds up.
