When do you take time to reflect on your day?

Posted on Jan 9th, 2009 by Zephyr : Poeticspirit Zephyr
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 09, 2009:

Moment by moment, I try to be mindful, I can't tackle a whole day or a week, just priorities moment by moment.    After 9pm when my mother is comfortable, had her last medication and settled for the night, I feel grateful that she feels secure, loved and cared for , it makes the hard work worthwhile - then I can have time to relax but by then I am tired,  and more in need of chillin' out and some me time, some time to write poetry, or splosh a few paints about , a little time on line., listen to some relaxing music.  Before bed time, I step out onto the balcony stand under the night sky and reflect, mostly I feel gratitude for the beauty of the night sky, that my ducks and chickens are safely tucked up for the night away from predators on dry straw beds,.the cats are either curled up in the warm indoors or out on a hunting foray, i hear the distant bark of a fox, the calls of paired owls,  the hum of an aircraft that I can't see. The moon was bright last night on a monochrome scene, lighting the heavy frost, the ground frozen solid to a depth of several inches, my thoughts turned to thoughts of planting for spring and the fertility of the well composted garden ready for production when the warmer days return.    I was up early today and took time to watch the sunrise scorch the East horizon and kiss the tips of the trees bringing a little warmth to the frozen countryside, and appreciate the beauty and the silence, the birds were strangely quiet , but when I have time to reflect it feels like all is well - life just  Is.

What I appreciate about you Gael, is your ability to help me see through your eyes, and what a blessing that is! Actually, it’s far beyond seeing - there’s such a “livingness” in what you write - such a sensitivity. About reflection - sounds like you do this so naturally, that you don’t even realize you do it - and that is just absolutely living graciously “in the moment”.

Many blessings to you, ~ ~ ~ ^v^ ~ ~ ~

Hi Gem, pleased you find my scribbles helpful, you are right, I don’t realise , I just tackle life as it presents itself and try to go with the flow and simply do my best. The sensitivity can be a double edged sword because I feel others pain quite keenly, to slip into their shoes for a while helps to develop compassion, then there is a balancing act because we can’t help anyoneif we go to pieces ourselves, My guide is love, if I am not sure of a path, I ask what love would do. I guess nursing helped develop that tightrope act. Love and blessings to you too.

What a blessing you are for us, Gael! Your quiet strength and great sensitivity to all the beauty that surrounds us gives me such comfort. Doesn’t it feel good and so worth it all, when the mothers are tucked in and comforted and that eternal giving-and-receiving of love radiates between us. There isn’t enough “me time” that’s true. But I guess we’re finding out how to redefine that…maybe the metime is woven throughout all the other moments in the day. I know that to be true, when my heart is open in appreciation.

Peace to you! And oceans of Love, Jeannie
