Violet, delicate, sweetly scented, shy, open
Wild Rose, fine, delicate, open heart, scented,
Lily, pure, regal, perfumed, deep
Nasturtium, abundant, open, colourful, bright
Poppy, brilliant, showy colourful, joyful
In the garden of life each friend is the best in the world, so different, beautiful, perfect, I love and appreciate them as they are, I would not change one petal, my only obligation, accept and support their unfolding and growth knowing they are doing their best to be their best, in becoming their unique and beautiful selves. I am surrounded by diverse perfection and loving the variety, the discoveries.

I float above the waters
beyond time & space
the nearness of love
in your words
touching me
a flower in my heart
you
thank you Gael
tara
It's good to be KING
;-)
Tara, love yor imagination, you are a beautiful flower floating n my heart
Hi Fastdart I am thinking Kingcup, always a ray of sunshine even on a dull day. am I close?
I shine my being bright into this world
the order in cosmic chaos mapped across my heart
Sunset folds my petals inward
not for fear
but to draw into the peacefulness of silence
Then, following the light of Eternal Fire
I turn my gaze across the skies of another day
thankyou dear Gael… next year I really really WILL plant some in time for them to bloom in the fierce andalucian sun!
Hi Lynx, wow that was poetry from the heart, what will you plant ? that makes me think of cacti flowers, some of which are breathtaking, will you post some pics?
I am a bouquet of flowers, in a garden
not one but many, opening, closing, some sweet, some bitter, bursting with color, just sitting in bloom, waiting, shinning light within the room. No one but manya garden bouquet!
I am a hibiscus….
Delicate but strong, thrives best in the sunshine but needs her regular watering!
Diverse, colourful, tropical, surprising in variety, beautiful to many, loved.
Doesn't need much attention to flourish, but when paired with others in the species is beautifully enhanced.
Hope you like it.
sherri
Moonflower, and a whole medicine chest along the road
Here you are Gael.. you will LOVE these!
They bloomed this year with 9 flowers one night and around 13 a couple of nights later. They reduce me to awed wonder every time.
I nearly chose this one in answer to your question.. but I couldn't quite reconcile with just blooming once.. but maybe it's 'better to burn out' under some circumstances?!
I'll settle for this as an alter-ego :-)
Oh.. and my planting plans are for Sunflowers.. after planting just one you get enough seeds for a whole field.. how cool is that?
ps. I learned something too - they are bona fide cacti, not pseudo as i'd thought - can't find how to change the album name though….
i am a tiny yet important flower, surrounded by many others similar to me, but each one unique. together we are a beautiful and vast garden, a world co-created by our mere existence.
I am the weed.
“What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Wow, awed by all these beauties.
Jeff, love your inner bouquet
Sherri, I have two hibiscus in the garden, beautiful, will think of you now when I see them.
Moonflower, good medecine, and did you see the halo round the moon last night, edged red ?
Lynx, beautiful, do they attract moths? Sunflowers are cool the seeds are packed so efficiently in 2 swirls of fibonacci numbers, cool universe huh?
Sharely, if you fitted on a pinhead would still love you
Night phoenix we owe many present day cultivars to weeds, hugs, they are survivors and very useful.
Lotus is the most preferred but there two varieties, only difference is the colour: white and pink. Normally this will remind the spiritualism. Jsamine is preferred for the fine scent, it blooms in the evening and you will be mesmerised by its scent in the air. There are lot of flowers but I hate to pluck them. You can enjoy them while they are on the respective plants.
one more cuz it's my very favorite smell…..ylang ylang
I'm a sort of giant multicoloured hogweed who rambles willy-nilly all over the place and exudes a jasmineque fragrance and sometimes the odd thorn when threatened.
Nice blog idea, Gael.
warmly, Jon x
I like jasmine and lily of the valley, roses and Calla lilys ,and never tire of the scent of lilacs and how beautiful hydrangea are I'm not sure I'm one flower but more like a garden bugs and all, that grows wild.
I am a violet thistle flower,
Where butterflies land when out of power.
I am strong and grow and spread my seeds,
And remind the world we all share needs.
But I fear not, when the rains do come,
We will work together and get things done. :)

i will be a marigold. I like that smell on your fingers when you pinch the dead head off.
Most similar to ohmsmom and tara…
I am the unknown flower, one whose unsmelled scent and unperceived beauty will blossom and magnify, completely transforming the world.
For I am love.
I could be any flower, scented or not, each one is a beauty. But at this moment am feeling like a frangipani (or plumeira and a lot of other names), dancing with all my flower friends in celebration of each other's beingness and honoring Gael for her flower powerful blog.
And to dwell more on frangipani, it got its from an Italian perfume used to scent gloves in the 16th century and named after its creator, Marquis Frangipani. When the frangipani flower was discovered, its natural perfume reminded people of the scented gloves and so the flower was called Frangipani. The genus name, Plumeria commemorates Charles Plumier, a 17th century French botanist.
Frangipani is known by different names in different places. In South Asia it is known as Champa or Temple Tree. In the Philippines, it is called kalachuchi. In Hawaii it's plumeira and popular as leis. In Mexico, it's 'cacalloxochitl” which means “crow flower”. Frangipanis are made into garlands and bouquets, and hair ornaments, and their essences in perfumes, salves and ointments, etc.
Here are other names for Frangipani in other countries
Kembang Kamboja - IndonesiaTemple Tree or Champa - India
Kalachuchi - Philippines
Araliya or Pansal Mal - Sri Lanka
Champa - Laos
Lantom or Lilarwadee - Thailand
“Daffodils” (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd,A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way, They stretch'd in never-ending lineAlong the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: A poet could not but be gay,In such a jocund company: I gazed – and gazed – but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eyeWhich is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).what a lovely post…i can't decide what flower i am…maybe a bit of all…but while i consider the matter…here is a poem for your thread…
the lotus blooms forever…
oh precious secret garden,
tis whispered the lotus blooms;
with such breathtaking beauty,
and smells of sweet perfume;
the very ground of life,
it's essence oh so true;
it's path is perfect freeing,
nectar of blessed fruit;
tis only the beginning,
of wisdoms golden soul…
the lotus blooms forever,
each blossoming pure gold…
tlcoriginals…
My sensitive feelers tickled by the wind
But most exquisitely excited
when your tiny feet
amble silently
through my fine hairs
Yum!
I'm a Rose, of course, a FLOW-er … knowing that where blissful attention flows, abundant creation grows!!!
My dear Zephyr, which flower are you?
All my love,
Rosy -,-'-{@
hhhhmmmmm…gael……I will have to think about that….my late husband said to his co-workers, i can't wait to go home to my wife, my yaffi, my flower – and to have shabbat with her…..but he didn't say what kind of flower, :( and he left the world 5 days later…..
My girlfriend leah, says I am a rose, I will buy that – the thorns….lol…
But here is something from me that doesn't describe a specific flower either..maybe I am a passionflower…I don't really know……..I have never given this question any thought at all..But now that you mention it, some things come to mind here…I play harp, people have told me that my gift of song is so hidden and that I can do what no therapist can do with my song and my harp…
I just looked up the definition of passionflower …as I am thinking of what i am replying…..I planted passionflowers in my yard, in front of the swimming pool against the wall…lol….here is the definition: and here is my poetry…interesting eh?? You just allowed me to learn something about myself….lol…the thorns, the rose, the passion, the passionflower…hmm, according to the definition, maybe I need to go to brazil!! yikes, I have always wanted to visit there!! Maybe I will bloom again there~maybe my soulmate is there and i am looking in israel!! lol …
I am very good about putting people to sleep, lol, and waking them up too!! A safe tranquilizer…
Passion Flower, whose genus name is passiflora, is a naturally grown medicinal herb, approved by the German Commission E in the treatment of insomnia and nervousness. It is also used as a sedative in nervous disorders (including gastrointestinal complaints of nervous origin), difficulties in sleeping, and anxiety or restlessness. Passion Flower reduces spasms and depresses the central nervous system.
Passion flower is also known as maypop. It is a woody vine with flowers which reminded early pilgrims of the passion or suffering of Christ. The plant produces small berry-like fruit called granadilla or water lemon. The aerial parts of the plant are gathered during fruiting season and then dried for future processing.
Habitat:
The plant is indigenous to an area from the southeast U.S. to Argentina and Brazil.
Passion flower has a tranquilizing effect, including mild sedative and anti-anxiety effects. In studies conducted since the 1930's, its mode of action has been found to be different than that of most sedative drugs (sleeping pills), thus making it a non-addictive herb to promote relaxation.
Insomnia:
The sedative effect of Passion flower has made it popular for treating a variety of ailments, including nervousness and insomnia. Research had indicated that passion flower has a complex activity on the central nervous system (CNS), which is responsible for its overall tranquilizing effects. Also, it apparently has an antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles within the body, including the digestive system, promoting digestion.
Safety:
There are no reported side effects for passion flower and the suggested dosages. However, it is not recommended for use in pregnant women or children under the age of two. If already taking a sedative or tranquilizer, consult a health care professional before using passion flower.
Passion
A vision for a future love and marriage relationship
Passion is a flower,
Awakening in the morning
A soul of love, a brand of fire.
My heart is stirred by passion's fire.
Souls desire to cleave as one
Thrilling, rhythmic, dance of love
Passions sway to light the way
Our dance of love to never stray.
Gifted teachings rule our hearts.
Their words have taught us how to live
Shaped our minds and filled our hearts,
Souls desire, just to give.
I want to recreate His love
I want to share and care with you
The deeper essence in this kiss,
A greater passion than we knew.
Your words so caring from the start
Have touched my soul, sparked my heart.
You, O, man of passions, fire
Set my nights and days afire.
I dare dream creating, from two, One;
To harmonize and synchronize
Indulgent solely to love's desires
Souls to nourish from higher powers.
I hope that we will choose to be
Together walking, you and me
To live, and laugh, to walk as One;
How fortunate we will become.
A ball of sparks, potent fire,
Beautiful, fragrant, blooming flowers.
Wooing us to higher powers
Beckoning now, like vibrant fire;
Complete, fulfill, our souls' desires.

For you, Zephyr, today I've changed my icon to a beautiful flower I met inLondon a few years ago.
I would chose a stick verbena. They are very much liked by the Gold Finch…which is much liked by fairies……
Today I showed a tree growing as a bush in my garden, to a native Floridian. He has never seen a nyctanthus arbortristis tree; and I found myself describing this divine flower that blooms here in October. Its fragrance, and the sight of hundreds of flowers on the green lawn, ready to be taken for a prayer ceremony –brings back treasured memories of my childhood.
It took me 6 years to find this tree in the U.S. and have it sent to me in Miami. Thank you for facilitating this sharing, Zephyr. This is more “me” than that London rose I first chose.
Wow, absolutely blown away by all your answers, I tried to answer you all individually but due to glitches lost the whole thing 3 times, so I think i will come back to you all tomorrow.
Wow!
The fragrances of beauty, delicate spirits all blooming in glory. A celebration of oneness and profound expression…
Thank you Zephyr for inviting me into your garden…
I must be showy colourful, bright, joyful, and what's more open- heart.
I must be a Wild Azalea - they grow here where I live and bloom between Mother's Day in May and my birthday near Memorial Day. Look here to see the delicate beauty, whose scent arrives even before you see them - http://www.desotostatepark.com/photogallery/wildflowers/wild%20azalea.jpg
And from a song of mine (tune roughly like Edleweiss from the Sound of Music)
“April showers bring May flowers, a heavenly scent fills the air, pale or bright, pink delight, Azaleas cover our bowers. Each year, I hope you see, they still bloom for thee, when I'm gone, I hope you sing, this song of mine, each Spring and Summertime.”
Deborah
PS to Aley, I just have to tell you that the name of my song is Daffodils and that is the subject of the first verse -
“Daffodils, daffodils, yellow flowers that bloom in the chill. February's cold, March winds, April rains, Daffodils. Gone again, back next year, full of cheer, Daffodils.”
Pansies
Pansies are short-lived perennials that are grown as annuals. They were developed in the late 19th century when the small-flowered heartsease (Viola tricolor) was crossed with other species. It's hard to imagine that these appealing little flowers with their happy 'faces' are the ancestors of modern plants. Today's pansies have larger flowers, and they come in an amazing range of vibrant colours and bicolours, with petals that are often striped or blotched. The first blotch kinds appeared in 1830, and have marks on the lower petals to guide pollinating insects.
Well several of you asked what flower I am, well even in adverse conditions I will raise my head above the parapet and fight for needed change, tend to see what's needed much earlier than the crowd, though not seeking publicity I beaver away quietly and get results. I believe communication, co operation and example gets better results than coercion. For this reason my first choice of flower woukd be the snowdrop. My second choice might be passion flower, passion raises perseverence.
What a thought-provoking question this is, and what marvelous responses, so far. My favorite flowers are fragrant ones like the Easter Lily (I am INCAPABLE of passing by one without sticking my nose in, and if that leaves yellow pollen on my nose for the rest of the day, so be it!) and sweet, heady Lilacs… but which flower am I?
Hmmm… I could be a honeysuckle, with juice that just gets sweeter and more plentiful as I get older… I could be like the huuuuge, hot pink hibiscus in my front yard (at least that's what I think they are - maybe I'll post a pic so you guys can tell me!) as the same big, beautiful flowers open wide and joyful to the world then close off unto themselves, over and over… I could be a cannabis bloom as I love to inspire people to relax, imagine, heal and EAT (lol!), I could be mistletoe because I love playing matchmaker… I'll have to give this more thought!
Oh yes and for a fragrant flower I am part Jersey Lily, I spent my childhood on that fair Island in the Channel Isles.
feeling lotus flowery today :)
I think I am an edelweiss :)
Orchid- Lush Sensuous Beauty.
There is a Greek legend about how the name “Orchid” came about. It seems that there was a youth named Orchis who was the son of a nymph and a satyr. He was attending a festival of Bacchus, the God of Wine, one evening and indulged too much in the plentiful beverage. He let his passions get the better of him and accosted Bacchantes the favorite priestess. In response to his actions, the rest of the guests, enraged by his disrespect, tore him apart. His father begged the gods to make him whole again, but the gods refused. However, taking pity on the father, they did allow Orchids to be made from the remains of his body, thus bringing beauty into the world.

Oh!!! This is such a fragrantly, sweet blog, Gael. So many beautiful flowers here. I am in awe of each and everyone of you…you make a virtual garden shine…….
Now what flower am I???? (hmm…about birds, lol, I do know I am the last of the dodo …but flowers!! Yikes…let me think…)
I am on a quest, searching for a flower…
To best portray ‘me' each blooming hour
Blue bells and violets oh, so blue
Chase away my gloomy thoughts on cue…
O dazzling, incomparable sunflower
You hold my eternity each fragrant hour
…but I need to see my smile of purest gold
In the fresh radiance of a marigold
Lotus bloom, you promise to enchant
Even you, sweet, showy hibiscus plant
Oh sensual passion flower divine
Show me the honey and sweet, sweet wine
O magniloquent wisteria, you make me sigh
I too would like to reach for the sky
Lily of the valley, so pure and white
Will you portray all of me just as bright?
O Morning Glory, I'm running out of time
Am I all the flowers in sweetest rhymes?
Yikes! To pick a flower that describes me best
Is proving to be an impossible quest.
Yet, sigh, I must settle for only one, so here goes…
I pick a rose because I'm a rose and a rose is a rose is a rose…
Amy:-)
