What is your relationship to touch?
Touch? Where? Please, not the soles of my feet or you will reduce me to a pile of giggling jelly. Feet, like hands are soooo tactile; I love to feel the earth: grass, sand, silt under my feet. I shun gloves in the garden and like to get stuck into the fertile soil, what a gift - it feeds us all.
Touch is one way I show loved ones and pets that i love them For me physical touch with others goes hand in hand with sensitivity to the recipients feelings, they may not be touchy / feely they may guard their space. If they are receptive then I love to touch. I revel in the feel of skin to skin, and a babies skin is irresistable,
A gentle reassuring touch can speak volumes when words are inadequate.I love to give a hug because it shouts I love and accept you heart to heart, when I can't send a real one then a virtual (((((hug))))) shows I care
Sharing others joy and sadness is touching, pulls at my heartstrings, can move me to tears, and spark good things A look, or someone's body language can touch me, speak volumes.
Then there is that sixth sense that touches me often, we may have our back to a person and sense they are watching, thinking, I am particularly sensitive to distress signals from those close to me sensing it even when physical distance would normally preclude communication, this has happened with animals too, somehow feelings can touch me accross a great divide and I respond.
Music and art can touch me deeply, move me to tears of joy, similarly it pleases me when my poetry touches others. Nature touches me, I feel a deep connection there.
kindness and thoughtfulness is touching,I hope I also touch others that way
My visual thesaurus brings up many words associated with touch from soupcon
sensation, impact, senses, affect, pertain - at least thirty like these on my visual thesaurus, which says a lot about the importance of touch to humanity
I touch the past when I remember,
I touch the present when I am here now,
I touch the future when I teach.
