New Poem Inspired by Summer Solstice and Shakespeare.
Summer Breeze
Blow, blow, soft summer breeze
whispering through the poplar trees
scented sweet as I breathe
seeds suspended in the air
float right past my garden chair.
feels gentle as you wreathe
soft upon my forehead, so cool it feels divine
Dapple sunlight on the grass, blades lay supine
your summer breath feeds mine
as One we intertwine
Dance, dance, partner flowers
sway leaves, for hours and hours
prompt sparkles on water
and blow fine mists of spray
through children's water play
you carry their laughter.
Dance, dance, though invisible, I know you are there
I see you at play, feel the breath that we share.
Sweet summer's breath in mine
as One we intertwine
Inspired by Shakespeares
Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,
Thou dost not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As friend remember'd not.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly
