Posted on Nov 20th, 2008 by Zephyr : Poeticspirit Zephyr

i am pleased to say I have mushrooms in my organic garden, in the lawns, on the log pile,  growing in the old wood of my raised beds. Mushrooms are rather wonderful, please check out the following link, they thrive in humus rich soil.
please play this video and discover how they helped create our world and could well help save our environment.

If organisms could vote, would they vote us humans off or on the planet?

Hhmmm…geesh…do we really need to think about this one?

Soil magicians, Mothers and Life Carriers, Life Creators, Life Savers, Human, Emotions, Healers, Ancient, Giants, Inheritors, Strength, Resilience, Tender, Courageous and Hopeful…

We should all strive be more like mushrooms! Save the Forest, hurry, hurry!

Wow Gael this is good, I am glad you tapped me in. I watched it with my oldest son, we are both impressed and super chatty with our shared knowledge. We both agree that we will never look at mushrooms again the same way.

You have no idea how rich this information is for us…I am going to chat with hubby first…I will keep you tuned in via pm.

We are exploring with a Manure Management Practice initiative with our Hog industries and have reviewed some of this material.

Check this site out people and than Get a Life Box…gotta love it!

we keep chickens and ducks their waste and straw goes into our compost which gets spread around the garden. I am finding funghi popping up all over the place
and the land is in much better condition it was lumpy clay, now it is rich and workable, the plants love it.

I was so happy to see Paul Stamets' link posted here!  A few days ago I tried unsuccessfully to put the link on my blog under the “What is your favorite theory?” Q&R!  (Still can't figure out how to make a link show up as a link that you can click on!)

Stamets, wrote a book, Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World.  My two favorite quotes from the book:

I believe that mycelium is the neurological network of nature.  Interlacing mosaics of mycelium infuse habitats with information-sharing membranes.  These membranes are aware, react to change, and collectively have the long-term health of the host environment in mind.  The mycelium stays in constant molecular communication with its environment, devising diverse enzymatic and chemical responses to complex challenges.

I see the mycelium as the Earth's natural Internet, a consciousness with which we might be able to communicate.  Through cross-species interfacing, we may one day exchange information with these sentient cellular networks.  Because these externalized neurological nets sense any impression upon them, from footsteps to falling tree branches, they could relay enormous amounts of data regarding the movements of all organisms through the landscape.

This is all so exciting and I'm glad the word is getting around!  Thanks!

Hi Inbrita. What I do to link things like this is copy the http address of the site I want to show from my computer, then paste where I want it , use the space bar to forward one space and it underlines I always check it works so others don't have a fruitless effort , try that and see how you manage.
So far collectively we seem to have faught a battle with nature, how silly we have been in the past , we should be interconnected and working with nature, certainly not using and abusing as we have done. As you say the possibilities if we work with nature are infinite, mindblowing and so exciting

Thank you, Zephyr!  I tried to make a link on another post and it worked!  Yay!  This is the first place I've found some folks as excited as I am about finding deeper connections with this little blue planet.  Thanks again!

I am on my knees in prayer; I am doing cartwheels of hope and praise.  YES!! yesyesyes we are so interconnected with nature.  Where does the one stop the other begin??  To use and abuse our environment is something from the darkest nightmare.

YES, an awareness is rising:  we need to listen and protect and revere nature as ourselves.  A new cultural awakening and understanding returns to wisdom always known by the ancients.  Wow.  The possibilities are infinite, mindblowing, and ever-expanding!!
