The media does it, and we can believe it's true if we like, or we can see things as they really are. What is your world like? Are people evil, materialistic and selfish, untrustworthy, lacking in love? Or do you see the beauty in every person, the compassion and love that abounds if we recognise it., If someone tries and fails, do we condemn them as hopeless? Or do we acknowledge their autonomy and the efforts they made and empathise, give them support, while they work out their mistakes for themselves and how they will succeed next time? The world is my mirror, and I learn from it continually, I have learned that you know what is best for you, I cannot know what is in your mind, and we get along best if I accept , trust, and love you as you are and refrain from making judgements, You are me, I am you, we are beautiful.

a good reminder and the kind of stuff that keeps me coming back to zaadz over and over again. reminds me of a saying that i really hold dear, “we only recognize in others that which we know in ourselves.”

Most people are spirtually dead. The very core of them is dormant to life and love. They're guided by media reports which tell them what is right and what is wrong, what makes us happy and what dissapoints.
This is true for anyone that follows, whether it be religion or a brand name that they proudly wear on the chest of a t-shirt. They have abdicated their own self and reason for another's idea or concept.
This may seem small but what it leads to is an undiscerning individual who is ready to accept the reason of a percieved majority and this in turn leads to a manipulation of everything that's important.
This is why we have wars in foreign lands, wars for resources, wars that lay the ground work for globalized corporate entities to arrive and drill out the soul of cultures; centuries worth of development.
Within every individual lies a quiet fire, the fuel of which lays in questions, information and research. The abdication of ones own cocepts and ideas retards this fire, resulting in a sanctuary of sloth and apathy.
But once the fire is stoked by enquiry, the spark of personal integrity starts to burn, false information is quickly discerned, an unquenchable search for the truth begins, the fire is truth, it is human spirit.

Thank you for responding, but it seems to me that to label most people as spiritually dead is a very strong and judgemental statement, some may be dormant or sleepiing, but we all have the same potential of spirit,. it may only take a little loving to waken them. I am not sure I follow you that well,. could you clarify what you are saying please, who is abdicating their own self and reason, whose sanctuary of sloth and apathy are we talking about? Fire stoked, can be dangerouus, the only safe one to burn like that I am prepared to trust is love.

It's a fact that most Westerners will go through life without discovering the very essense of their being, without looking beyond their everyday perceptions.
I agree that we all have the same potential spirit, but I emphasis the word potential, there are many rites of passage in our current society and culture but none of which are spiritual.
You can spread all the love you like, but only the individual can awaken themselves from their slumber. You are powerless in this regard.
Many abdicate self and reason when they willfully adopt doctrine of religion and pop-culture.
The sanctuary of sloth and apathy are clearly demonstrated by a TV, I pod and magazine pop-culture and by an uninterested electorate.
Their is nothing dangerous about a passion filled life inspired by an underlying search for the truth.
Zephyr, great post! I [try to] look through the veil to the inner iight, what some call the Buddha nature. Sometimes, as GW suggests with ” dormant” and “potential”, I have to go really still, and deep into myself to look deep within “the other”. What is there in me that prevents me from seeing the light in the other?
At other times, I speak to the inner light of one who is scared of seeing it for themselves, and it is necessary to step back, and give some room for meaningful communication.
I do the same Meenakshi, when problems run deep sometimes we need patience. Smiles. Folk help themselves when they are ready, not neccesarily when we would like them to do so.It is always helpful to look within.
The World is Beautiful.
The media has it all wrong and I wonder whose eyes we're seeing through when we watch TV. Certainly they aren't seeing what I'm seeing.
So I'll trust my own perceptions rather than someone else's. =)

I nearly put this post on another persons blog that had a more negative and controversial view, I notice their controversy often reaches the hot posts - but I thought no it is a different viewpoint and worth it's own space, i was quite surprised that this ended up in the hot blogs too !
